Pavilion Model – DESIGN: MAJOR PROJECT PREPARATION

As my artefact for the project, in our studio we were to design a pavilion which would show our idea. This then will lead to our larger urban strategy. For the artefact, I decided to create a physical model which would show the blocks that build up to create the pavilion. I made the model at 1:20 scale and used balsa wood as I wanted it to show the material as close as I could get it to palette wood.

To show my ideas further I then will Photoshop the model into an image of the site where I am wanting to locate my design and contextualise and render this to create an atmosphere.

PROCESS

Process of creating my pavilion model. It took a long time as I made each of the bricks individually by scoring balsa wood and bending it into a brick shape. I then glued one of the edges. This was the only way I could do this which would be efficient with time to get all the bricks I needed done. The one issue with this method was some of the bricks were not the straightest however it still is able to show my idea effectively.
