Throughout the week, Jess has been working hard on getting drafts of the video completed and the spoken word for this. Jess first shared the spoken word with us in our group chat we have, and initially, when I first listened to it you can hear how well it is put together.

The flow of Jess’ friend’s voice (Ruhi) works amazing with the dramatic music in the background which really gives off the feel of a documentary. His voice also draws you in and continues to retain your attention for a long time which is something so powerful as you always want to keep the viewer entertained throughout. As well as Ruhi being amazing for the spoken word, the words that Jess wrote flow astoundingly together, really capturing the point we want to get across that we are one of the biggest problems destroying our earth.

From this spoken word, Jess made a draft video (follow youtube link embedded) for our most recent meeting with Jules to show her what we have so far, and I am in love with it. For the video, she incorporated Koni’s cooking videos and my painting footage mixed with archive footage she has found online which isn’t copyrighted meaning we are able to use it. These videos are great at showing moments in history when some of the effects we are getting across are happening, meaning the viewer can see some of these actions. She has then left the place black for where Andrew’s video will be placed, and some extra footage needed to complete the video.
Its only a start but I am loving it so far!
After reviewing the draft as a group, we talked about this and Jess was saying how she is going to add captions over the top with some important facts and stuff said in the spoken word. Koni also realised that her videos didn’t save on the shared drive as slow-mo’s so she is going to re-send these to Jess and hopefully she can then edit these parts to make the video even better.

Here you can see the second draft Jess has made with the text added and Koni’s slow-Mo videos of her cooking. I feel that the added text helps the viewer to understand the points given and reinforces some of the ideas in your head. I also love the slow-mo videos replaced in the video especially of the lighting the gas just as it gives so much more effect to the project. My next goal Jess has given Koni and I, is to take some footage for the end of the video where we are giving ways to be more sustainable and help save our earth. I am going to take some footage of metal straws I own and, on a walk, take some videos of walking and public transport if possible.
One of my concerns now is that Andrew hasn’t been messaging us and hasn’t been actively joining the workshops and scheduled calls we have planned. We know he has finished making the ice sculpture however hasn’t filmed this and hasn’t talked to us at all about it. We all are hoping he is well, however, need to try and get into contact with him so we can finish the video and then start actively working on the presentation as a group. I know the ice sculpture is one big part of what we need footage of now so working on this is a big priority.
